I am an Irish historian and archaeologist, with wide range of interests from the prehistoric to the modern period, specialising in 18th and 19th century military, political and cultural history. My PhD examined Irishmen in the Britrish Army during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars and my postdoctoral research has also explored the Irish in the French army.
I currently work for Boyne Valley Tourism, in Meath County Council, where I promote heritage tourism and community engagement. I continue to research and publish on military history topics.
I have taught Irish, European and British Imperial history at University College Dublin and Maynooth Univeristy, and I have also worked in both research and commercial archaeology positions.
